Excuse the bad photos of the Citroen
Tat mint 1979 Civic had only 75k km on it. The owner bought it from a Grandma in Nova Scotia, where it sat in a garage for most of it's life!

That Citroen Traction Avant (known as the Light 15 or some other number officially based on the taxable horsepower; Traction Avante was in informal nickname) really is something else. I’ve never seen one, but I imagine that quite the sight on the highway.
Civic is cool too. Interesting how they had a 5 Speed badge on the back to advertise their inability to afford an automatic to the world.

Two years
a
go I was surprised to find a convoy (well, three) Tractions with a 2CV following.

I’ve only ever seen two Citroens in America, both 2CVs. Fortunately I was able to snap both of them.
One modified
The other restored
And other than a few Peu geots at a junkyard, that is the sum total of French cars I’ve seen too. The US is pretty much entirely lacking in ghallic charm.

TA is a great spot and that sticker on the Civic makes it so worth while!

They probably paid extra to get more than 4 gears ;) Funny that for a time the automatic was such a fancy thing it was worthy of its own badge

After I posted that comment I realized that 5 gears must have been a fancy option on a 70s econobox. I guess that alone was worthy of bragging.

Love that Traction Avant! Civic is cool too! I’ve never seen a Traction in person either, but I’ve seen a few 2CVs, a Dyane van and an SM....no DS yet either, sadly! :(

You should visit the Netherlands once. On one of the first truly nice spring days I took a 2.5 hour drive, and I saw 3x a DS (not a convoy), a Traction Avant, 2x a 2CV, a CX and many more classics from other brands. All on the highway at different times moving in different directions.

The yellow one still has modern French plates.

I definitely want to visit Europe at some point! To import a
FIAT 126p when the tim
e comes
, I’ve actually thought about flying over, buying it and then road tripping it to the port myself...would be a fun adventure!

Since Georgia doesn’t require a front plate, that is a popular thing for collectible European cars. Sometimes they are just Euro style and say whatever but the real OGs have real unregistered plates.
